Setting Up A Dedicated Library Manager Instance

I was recently asked to post a thorough document on moving the library management functions for a shared library to a dedicated TSM instance. For the person who asked, I am currently gathering the info and will try and post it by this weekend. I know it can be of great help for many out there so just know its in the works.

  1. We have two solaris clusters, each cluster with 8x TSM instances. Each cluster has 1x library manager, but because we are doing cross site backups over dark fibre both clusters are library clients to each libaray manager. So each libaray manager has 15 library clients. It does get a bit fun with all the library paths that need to be managed, but is all scriptable.

The only thing you have to be aware of is that NDMP backup clients have to be configured on the library manager. So it will see some activity if you have NAS storage you need to backup.
